Our Story

My Safe Harbor, Inc. was founded by Marsha Tessler, of Broward County, who saw a great need in her own community and is committed to lending a helping hand to help make a difference in other people’s lives. My Safe Harbor, Inc. is a community-based organization with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Our operations function solely on the food donations and monetary donations of private individuals, organizations, and charitable events held throughout the South Florida area.

Marsha Tessler, Founder & Director

Marsha Tessler is an entrepreneur with compassion. A licensed Realtor for more than 25 years, she has an extensive knowledge of corporate and property management.

Marsha’s interests have increasingly shifted towards giving back to her community. She has been a volunteer and mentor at SOS Children’s Village, a group home for children who have been abandoned and abused. She has given her time, energy and fundraising skills to organizations such as Beyond Blind Institute and Women In Distress.

Marsha’s experience with these non-profits has given her a profound sense of the plight of children and families in need. Marsha co-founded the Just Believe Foundation and is the Founder & Director of My Safe Harbor.

Karen Rogowski, Director

Karen Rogowski has served as a Director of My Safe Harbor since 2017. After helping Marsha Tessler with many My Safe Harbor events, Karen was asked to become a Director, and she said yes wholeheartedly. “Stepping outside of ourselves to help others is highly gratifying, and the gratitude from those we help is just priceless,” she says. Together, Marsha and Karen make a dedicated team, committed to feeding the hungry and making a difference in the lives of children and families in need.

Like everyone at My Safe Harbor, Karen is a volunteer. She also runs her own spiritual healing practice, Navigate Your Soul, where she offers guidance through Akashic Records, Oracle/Angel Cards, and Hoʻoponopono. She is a Reiki practitioner (Levels 1 and 2) and a certified Law of Attraction practitioner, and she has worked as a motivational writer and speaker since 2012.
